Our Favorite Wedding Dress Trends for 2019!
Still swooning over all the beautiful designs that walked down the runway from the 2018 New York Bridal Fashion Week, we picked out five of our favorite trends from this year. If you’re ready to embrace the newest bridal fashion, check out our picks below to incorporate into your wedding day!
Royal Flair
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding is the inspiration behind so many of the 2019 wedding dress trends! Several designers went all in on the a royal theme with cathedral-length trains and full skirts. Extravagant beading and embroidery, heavier, luxurious silks and satins, and delicate lace adorned many of the dresses to create looks fit for a princess. To complete the looks, long veils and sparkling tiaras were paired with the royal gowns. For the bride who wants to feel like a princess on her big day, 2019 is the year for you!
Flowers and Floral Patterns
Playing off the nature-themed trends of previous years, 2019 is all about flowers! From three-dimensional florals bursting in bloom from waistlines and at the shoulder, to white-on-white floral print fabric and floral designs in beadwork, the centerpieces will be competing with the gowns for best decorations. The gowns are sure to win, of course. From rustic-themed weddings to modern, minimalist looks, wedding gowns with floral influence are available in countless varieties!
Plunging Necklines and Long Sleeves
Modesty takes a modern turn in 2019. While long, lace sleeves were popular, brides still have plenty of opportunity to be daring! Many of the long-sleeved gowns seen during Bridal Week had deep, v-neck plunging necklines which called to mind a more risque take on Victorian-style wedding dresses. Feminine without being girlish, these wedding dresses are an incredible blend of tradition, sophistication, and glamour.
Ball Gowns and Full Skirts
The traditional ball gown is always part of Bridal Fashion Week, but instead of just a few offerings in a sea of mermaid-style gowns and sheaths, ball gowns with full skirts and structured bodices stole the show! These princess-inspired ball gowns ranged from layers of tulle to smooth, sleek satin. Some were minimal, but most highlighted with intricate, sparkling beadwork or layers of delicate lace. One of the most versatile silhouettes, ball gowns can be very formal and traditional or fun, flirty, and modern!
Pantsuits
Not just for courthouse weddings anymore, formal wedding pantsuits made big statements on the runway. Instead of traditional blazers and loose trouser-cut pants, these formal looks came in dozens of varieties. These are perfect for a bride wanting something creative and original for her wedding. For brides looking for an ultra-feminine style, satin or silk fitted pants with overskirts of tulle were seen on the runway, along with suits made of lace and satin!
