Spring 2020 Bridal Trends

It’s true, we’re only a few months into 2019, but the wedding trends for 2020 are already on the fashion world’s radar. These days it’s harder to pin down trends when it comes to bridal style. So many brides are opting for multiple dresses, a more traditional dress for the ceremony, and a fun, comfortable option for the reception. Trends such as removable skirts, high-low gowns, or various colored wedding dresses aren’t as uncommon as they used to be. Brides nowadays are free to express their individuality with their bridal style, and we’re all for it here at Lyra Vega. Check out five of our favorite looks that walked the runway for the Spring 2020 New York Bridal Fashion Week below!

Maybe It’s Minimalism

The royal influence of Meghan Markle’s Givenchy wedding dress is still holding a heavy influence over bridal style in 2020. Designers like Viktor & Rolf and Carolina Herrera both opted for designs that highlighted crisp, classic silhouettes, many with long sleeves. If you’re a bride who doesn’t like to make bold statements with their style, these minimalist gowns perfectly blend understated elegance with timeless beauty.

Blissful Blush Tones

Maybe you’re not ready to commit to a bright, bold-colored wedding gown, but you do want to incorporate some color into your bridal style. Vera Wang designed a collection of whimsical, tulle-heavy gowns that come in light pink, blush tones. This ultra-feminine look is a happy medium between bold and traditional. Fit for a bride who wants to have a romantic, fairytale wedding over the next year.

Sophisticated Short Suit

As the power suit continues to be embraced in women’s everyday fashion, who says we can’t take that trend into bridal style? Going off the pantsuit trend of last year, the bridal short suit – a long-sleeve blazer and shorts ensemble – was a popular trend on the runway this time around. Perfect for a summer wedding, this leg-baring ensemble is a sophisticated, yet modern bridal look. Even if it’s not quite your style for the wedding ceremony, it could be a great option for pre-wedding receptions.

Alluring Applique Gowns

For the bride who ignores the statement ‘less is more,’ Bridal Week came through with daring looks. The runway was overflowing with intricate beading, floral appliques, gleaming jewels, and feathered detailing. Even with eye-catching details, many of these gowns come in a variety of styles and depending on your style, could work for a more simple wedding. But, one thing is for sure, with one of these gowns you’re surely to be the center of attention on your big day!

Heavenly Headpieces

You would think that with Priyanka Chopra’s 75-foot wedding veil, long veils and trains would be taking over bridal fashion week. But, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Many designers went for decorative headpieces or headbands instead. Opting out of a veil has its benefits, you don’t have to worry about tripping over your train, and headpieces still allow you to add some feminine decor to your hair by adding flowers or pearls. Look out this season cause headbands are the new veil!
