6 Modern Ballgowns Under $1,000
Bibbidi, Bobbidi, Ballgowns!
Ballgowns are one of the most popular silhouettes among brides. Not only do they make a clear fashion statement on your trip down the aisle, but they also possess a royal aesthetic. They are extremely versatile and can be found in almost any style that you desire, from a one-shoulder gown to a strapless gown. However, they do tend to run on the expensive side because they require much more fabric and assembly time than say a mermaid silhouette. But, not to worry if you’re under a strict budget for your bridal ensemble, you can still have the princess wedding gown of your dreams. We’ve taken it upon ourselves to find six beautiful (and affordable) ballgown options for you that are all marketed under $1,000!
Off-The-Shoulder
A classic ballgown with a modern touch, this off-the-shoulder gown from David’s Bridal comes in at $539. This figure-flattering gown is unembellished, but still jaw-dropping with its satin finish and dramatic ballgown skirt. The off-the-shoulder straps open up the neckline, perfect for any jewelry additions, but the best part of this gown? It has side pockets!
One Shoulder
We love this dress because it’s a one-shoulder gown, but with a twist - literally! The Courtney gown by Azazie, which costs $349, has a shoulder strap that seamlessly flows from the front to the back of the gown with a slight twist at the shoulder. Between the dreamy tulle skirt and the pleated, embellished bodice, you’ll look like you’ve stepped right out of a fairytale. Just keep in mind that this gown is made to be longer to accommodate different heights and shoe choices, so it may need some minor alterations post-purchase.
Two Tone
Ballgowns might be seen as a more traditional silhouette, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a version that fits a more alternative style. The Effie tulle skirt from BHLDN is priced at $965, and although it doesn’t come with a top, you can easily find a suitable (and affordable) silk camisole to pair with your tulle skirt. The sculptural placement of the tulle gives the skirt dramatic dimension and a whimsical flow perfect for an epic bridal moment.
Cut Out
When you think of cut-outs in a bridal gown, you’re probably envisioning a smaller skirt, not necessarily a ballgown. But, if you really desire a cut-out in your wedding gown and also a ball gown silhouette, it can be done! This beauty is the Octavia gown and can be found at BHLDN, coming in at a steal of just $975. As if that wasn’t already a plus, it is also inclusive of all brides as it is stocked in a large range of sizes. This gown also has some trendy touches with its sheer illusion panels, which is one of the 2021 bridal trends we called for the spring, and a low cut back.
Strapless
We couldn’t complete this list without bringing in a few of our gowns that fit the ballgown criteria! Our namesake Lyra gown, which comes in at $900, is a classic strapless number with a little bit of feminine flair. The chapel train, fit for a royal, gives the skirt a bit of dimension, but it isn’t too long that you’ll be tripping over it all night long on the dance floor. Plus, it has the prettiest floral appliques sewn on throughout the gown’s skirt for a subtle, romantic touch.
V-Neckline
Who said wedding gowns can’t be both elegant and sultry? Well, we wholeheartedly say your wedding gown can be anything you’d like it to be. Our Grace gown, which is only $900, is reminiscent of the elegance of Jackie O. and her iconic style. It fuses a deep v-neckline with a lace-lined tulle skirt. If you look closely at the beaded bodice and skirt, you’ll notice that the embroidery is blush pink, giving a bride a subtle pop of color.
