8 Wedding Tasks You Can Complete From Home
Despite how it may feel, we’ve only been in quarantine for about a month now (even though it seems like day 10,364 😓). If you were in the middle of planning your wedding when this pandemic started, it may have stunted your wedding plans, but it doesn’t and shouldn’t have to. You can still maintain your progress and complete important tasks from the comfort of your own home. Whether you’re planning a postponed wedding or keeping the momentum for a wedding planned for later this year, you can make the most of this free time and resources that wedding professionals are offering. We may have to stay in our homes for the protection of everyone, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be productive! No matter where you are in the process of planning your wedding, here are eight tasks you can complete while in quarantine!
Build or Update Your Wedding Website
If you were planning on creating a wedding website, now would be the perfect time to get started on it. Even if you weren’t planning on making one, having a wedding website is a powerful tool during this time. It can act as the central hub for information regarding your big day and is the easiest way to update all of your guests, especially if your plans are still up in the air. Websites like Zola, WeddingWire, and The Knot all offer free hosting of your site, as well as wedding-specific templates that make building your unique website super easy!
Take Virtual Dance Lessons
Get those dancing shoes ready! Who says you have to take ballroom lessons in an actual dance studio when you can do it from the comfort of your living room on your own time? Two left feet or not, you and your partner can work on your dancing skills by following YouTube tutorials or finding dancing studios that are offering online lessons in real-time.
Have A Menu Tasting
If you had food and/or cake testing set up sometime in the next few weeks, you don’t have to cancel. Contact your caterer and find out if they would be willing to pack up your menu options and do a non-contact pick-up/drop-off. This way you can decide on food for your big day and check one huge task off of your to-do list. Besides, one less meal to cook during this quarantine? Sign me up.
Put Together Your Registry
The more time you spend at home, the more aware you become of all the items you don’t have and always meant to buy. That new blender? A fancy set of mixing bowls? Life-changing coffee maker? Add it all to your registry list, whether you’re just starting one or are updating an already existing list.
Browse For Wedding Gowns
If you’ve yet to stumble upon your dream gown or are just starting your search, browse online to get a better idea of what you would like to wear. Many local boutiques are starting to take virtual appointments, and information is available online now more than ever. Check out our post on how to shop during COVID-19 here, or watch our favorite Youtuber Hayley share her tips and thoughts here. If you aren’t prepared to buy a gown online, still use this time to narrow down your choices and decide on the preferred silhouette, style, and color of your gown.
Research and Contact Vendors
Many vendors will physically be closed at this time, but it’s most likely their teams are still working from home and are available to answer any questions. Whether you’re in search of a venue, photographer, or caterer, read up on them online, check out reviews, and contact them with any cost or availability questions. We know all of our vendor friends would be SO happy to talk to couples right now and help them walk through this time!
Organize Your Pinterest Boards
Pin, pin, pin! Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration for your big day. If you’ve just been pinning all of your favorite inspo that you come across, now is a great time to organize your boards. Try to decide on a singular theme and pull together your pins that fit into that theme. This way, when you can get the ball rolling again, you’ll have a refined vision you can share with your planner.
Practice Self-Care
The most important task is to practice self-care during this trying time. Take care of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. You can also use this as an opportunity to spend quality time with your partner beyond day-to-day activities. Plan weekly date nights, whether that’s a candle-lit dinner or just watching a movie together, it’s important to take that time to decompress together.
We’re all in this together, and we will get through as best we can. Share this with a bride who needs to save time on wedding tasks and browse our collection of modern wedding gowns that can be on your doorstep in just 8 weeks!
