Fall 2020 Bridal Trends
Depending on where you live, it might still feel like summer (we’re looking at you Los Angeles), but fall is officially in full swing with winter right on its heels. So you know what that means: Bridal Fashion Week for Fall 2020. Trends are continuing to change at a rapid pace, with something new rising in popularity every day or even coming back into style. Pantsuits, strapless gowns, floral appliques, lace - these are all trends we continue to see year after year with the occasional update. But, this season, bridal trends are taking a turn from cookie cutter to non-traditional. If you’re looking to show up on your wedding day in a gown no one would’ve expected from you, check out our top five trends from Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2020 below!
Bubble Skirts
You might’ve thought this day would never come, but the bubble skirts of the early 2000s are back and ready to take over the wedding runway! Some have likened the trend to that of a deflated balloon, but it can be quite chic with re-imaginations courtesy of designers like Danielle Frankel and Monique Lhuillier. If you’re looking to have a ball gown silhouette without toting around all the tulle and fabric, this style will give you more volume without the extra weight.
Puffed Sleeves
Another way to play with volume this season is puffed sleeves. We fell in love with Heidi Klum’s Valentino gown back in August, and now designers like Danielle Frankel and Alexandra Grecco have picked up this trend beautifully on the runway. These princess-inspired additions give off an ethereal vibe that will make it feel as though your gown could’ve been worn in the Renaissance era, but they still offer major modern vibes, with the rest of the gown being super simple. If you want to make a statement, you can even opt for a one-shoulder gown with a puffed sleeve!
Tiered Gowns
We called this trend during NYFW 2019, and sure enough, we are seeing it on the wedding runway now! The fashion world is no stranger to the tiered skirt trend, we’ve seen it pop up on runways from New York to Paris. But, this time, the entire gown is layered with tiers of fabric with designs from Viktor & Rolf and Amsale. It might sound like a bulky silhouette, but if done with lace or tulle can make for a romantic and whimsical wedding gown.
Pastel Colors
Blush pink or off-white are the safest choices for a bride who wants to stray away from the traditional white wedding gown. But, with creations from designers like Monique Lhuillier and Oscar de la Renta, we are seeing more bold options like sky blue and watercolor patterns. Pastel colors allow for a more vibrant, eye-catching wedding look without the need to choose a color that is too harsh.
Vintage Necklines
Unique neckline trends were popping up in New York Fashion Week with cut-out silhouettes and one-shoulder gowns, and now they’re carrying over into bridal fashion. Designers like Viktor & Rolf and Savannah Miller are bringing back popular ‘90s trends like cowl and square necklines. This trend will give any gown a vintage feel and offer a non-traditional option for brides who don’t want an A-line or strapless gown.
