Money Monday: 3 Ways to Save on a Reception Photo Booth
When it comes to hosting a wedding reception, oftentimes couples want a way to entertain their guests. Not every guest will want to hit the dance floor, so a photo booth is a fun way to keep guests occupied. It also gives guests a memento to take home, so you could even skip out on wedding favors if you need to cut costs. But, a photo booth can cost an average of $550 for three hours. If the cost of a photo booth would set you over budget or you would like to have a photo booth for longer than three hours there are less expensive ways to make memories. Keep scrolling for three ways you can cut the costs significantly for a reception photo booth!
Use Polaroids
Go retro and use polaroids as the “photo booth” at your reception! You can set up a station with one or two Polaroid cameras and a few props. This way guests can capture photos themselves without a time limit. They’ll be able to take pictures at their leisure throughout the night and then take them home as a memento. You could even have a photo book present on the table so guests can take one photo to keep and one to put in a wedding book for you and your partner to save.
Repurpose Ceremony Decor
Did you get married under a floral or balloon arch? Repurpose it as a photo op for your guests at your reception! Likely, any ceremony decor you get married under won’t be used after the fact, so reuse it for your reception photo booth. Add a few fun props and you have a stunning photo backdrop for little to no extra charge. Guests can use their phones to capture their photos, you can commission a photographer, or use polaroids.
Make Your Own Backdrop
Guests are equipped with personal cameras in their phones so why not have them use them! You can set up a cloth backdrop with a few florals, your initials, or a cool vintage couch for guests to take photos at with a small tripod to make it easier for guests to take photos. Make sure to have a small display listing a wedding hashtag so your guests can share their photos on social media and you’ll have one place to view all the photos.
