Money Monday: How to Save Hundreds On Your Venue

Wedding venues — it’s no secret that this item will be the most expensive out of all your wedding vendors. In 2019 couples spent an average of $10,500 on their wedding venues, and that’s not including decor. Between a ceremony AND reception space, venue budgets can skyrocket, especially if you’re planning a lavish wedding. But, you don’t need to break the bank to have an amazing venue, you just need to find ways to reduce costs. So, we’ve gathered three simple ways you can cut your venue costs by hundreds of dollars!

Choose A Public Venue

Public spaces, like a beach or park, are significantly less expensive to book than a more traditional venue. Most of these public spaces will require you to obtain a permit to hold a ceremony and/or reception, but these are usually free or only cost a few hundred dollars at most. This will not only give you unlimited space, but you’ll also be able to spend your venue budget on other aspects of your wedding, like guest entertainment or decor.

Pick One Space

Booking two different venues for your ceremony and reception not only increases your venue budget but also your decor and transportation budgets. Picking one space for both wedding events will give you the ability to cut your venue budget in half and repurpose some of your ceremony decor. Florals and chairs from your ceremony can be moved into your reception area to reduce the waste of your wedding decor and give you two beautiful spaces for the price of one.

Marry in the Morning

Tie the knot earlier in the day! Getting married in the A.M. is a less popular option as most couples tend to hold their ceremonies in the afternoon or evening. But, if you opt for an earlier wedding, your venue is more likely to slash your cost a bit since they will be able to book another couple in the evening. This also gives you the chance to hold a brunch reception and use the rest of your day to jet off on your honeymoon or hosts guests at your home for a post-wedding celebration.
