Trending Bridal Accessories

No look is complete without the accessories, bridal or otherwise. There’s something about those extra touches, whether it’s jewelry, hair accessories, or merely a belt, that really pull a look together. When it comes to bridal looks, it’s often assumed that less is more, but why can’t more be more? If you want to take your bridal attire to next-level chic, you have to take some risks, and what better way to do that than with some accessory additions to what surely is an out-of-this-world wedding gown. We’ve been keeping an eye out for the trendiest accessories to hit both the bridal runway and the wedding aisle recently, and rounded up the five accessories that will take your wedding look from dreamy to cool-girl chic!

Belts

Sashes and silky ribbons aren’t a new addition to gown accessories. They’ve been a bridal staple for years because they add an elegance and delicate touch to almost any look. But, now we’re seeing a bolder choice being made with wide belts that have big buckles and cinch at the waist taking over as the edgy way to make a bold fashion statement on your big day. Most of the belts are detachable and can be removed at any point, so you don’t have to completely commit to the look, and you could still use it post-wedding.

Gloves

During the early to mid 19th century, gloves were seen as a symbol of elegance and a staple of any bridal or evening look. At some point, that tradition was lost and was swapped out for the bridal manicure, yet they have made a triumphant return to the bridal world. But, they don’t have to necessarily be white, silk, and elbow-length like in decades past. Today’s bride has a little bit more freedom to personalize gloves by going fingerless, wrist length, or adding embellishments like rhinestones or lace for a rocker chic bridal look.

Embellished Veil

There is no doubt that the 2018 wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, where the Duchess of Sussex wore a 16-foot veil with embroidered trim, sparked a trend. Veils are usually seen as a simple tulle or lace addition to your gown, but they can add a whole new element to your bridal look. Whether they’re embellished with whimsical florals, pearls, rhinestones, or embroidered lace, veils that veer away from the classic designs aren’t just an add-on but a significant part of the overall look.

Capes

Although capes have been a fairly common accessory in previous years, they are moving up in popularity by subbing in for the classic veil and reaching breathtaking lengths. These sheer and lace masterpieces can bring drama and glamour to any bridal look, and much like the belt trend can be detachable. Capes are best suited for a more form-fitting gown to add that volume and regal effect but could be just as head-turning paired with a ball gown.

Sunglasses

We know sunglasses as a bridal accessory sounds a bit odd, but they can be an eye-catching addition to your bridal look or a fun photo op. You don’t have to necessarily wear them on your walk down the aisle unless you want to make it a chic bridal party only thing, but if you’re having a day wedding, you can wear them at your reception. You can bedazzle a pair you already own or have some specially made, but one thing is for sure you will be turning heads with your bold choice.
