Trending Nontraditional Veils
To veil or not to veil?
An age-old question that every bride encounters when putting together their wedding ensemble. It’s understandable why many modern brides skip out on the popular accessory. The classic lace and tulle veils might not suit your wedding gown (or your personality), plus without a veil, there’s one less item you have to trip over on your walk down the aisle.
If this sounds at all like you, we’re right there with you! Here at LVB, we love alternative wedding hair accessories such as bows, barrettes, and headbands (see our hair accessories post here). If rocking a veil is an option you wish to have, there are plenty of non-traditional veils out there that can please anyone from the minimalist to eccentric bride. Check out our picks below for our top five nontraditional veil trends that can help you make this accessory your own!
Pleated
If a wedding gown can be pleated, then why not a veil? If you’re going for a more minimalist look with your wedding ensemble, a pleated veil would suit your style. It’s a very subtle change to the traditional veil and provides some definition to an otherwise simple accessory. It can also be a chic addition to almost any gown, from ball gowns to silk slip dresses.
Dusty Blue
This trend puts a whole new spin on the addition of “something blue” to a wedding ensemble. You might not want to commit to a colored wedding gown, but you can use your veil as an opportunity to add a pop of color to your look. Dusty blue provides a color that isn’t too harsh and can be used in an ombre effect with white for a more subtle touch.
Celestial
Love being destined or “written in the stars” has been a popular expression for years. If you’re a believer in the stars or if they tie into your relationship somehow, a first date to an observatory or a late-night picnic under the stars, a celestial embellished veil would be perfect. The appliques can be small and subtle or big and sparkling, depending on your preferred style.
Fringe
A little something for our bohemian brides, fringe veils fit perfectly with a desert or rustic wedding aesthetic. It might sound a bit bulky for a headpiece, but as it’s only lining the veil, it shouldn’t be too hard to carry around, and you can shop vintage if you like. But, if you plan on rocking this veil trend, make sure to keep the rest of your ensemble simple as this accessory is very eye-catching on its own.
Studded
Pearl studded barrettes and clips are no stranger to wedding fashion, we called that trend a while back, but now it’s making its way into veils. Aside from pearl studs, brides are also donning bolder, metallic studs as well. No matter which kind of studs you choose to go with, you can add them to short, long, or birdcage veils for a contemporary look.
