Money Monday: How to Save On A Wedding Planner
You have the ring, and now it’s time to start planning a wedding! For a lot of brides, it’s difficult to know where to start, there are so many tasks to complete. Hiring a full-service wedding planner is a great way to get some guidance during this process and in some cases, you can experience vendor discounts if your planner has working relationships with other businesses. But, the average starting cost for a full-service wedding planner is $3,000. That may not be in the budget for some brides, but there are still plenty of ways to receive a little help along the way on your wedding planning journey. If you’re worried about taking care of wedding tasks on your own, we have a few budget-friendly ways to take away some of your planning stress!
Take A Planning Course
If your wedding budget only allows for you to DIY the whole planning process, it’s 100% doable! When going this route, we still recommend taking a wedding planning course from an expert planner. These planning courses usually cost a few hundred dollars and will guide you through the planning process, providing tools to help you through each task from vendor booking to forming a guest list. Plus, you can always refer back to the course materials as you move through planning. If you’re looking for an easy course that will give you visual aids, we recommend The Master Plan by Jamie Wolfer!
Hire A Day-of-Coordinator
Whether you set aside some money when you create your wedding budget or discover some extra funds while planning your wedding, hiring a day-of coordinator is a great option. The average starting cost for this kind of planner is $800. They will be responsible for all wedding tasks on your big day by overseeing vendors, managing the timeline, and any other last-minute issues that may come up throughout the day. This will save you time and stress, so you can just enjoy your big day without worry.
Hire A Partial Planner
Have a small planning budget to work with? Consider hiring a partial planner. They typically have an average starting cost of $1,250 and will come in about a month before your wedding to help with any last-minute tasks. This could be anything from confirming vendors to helping arrange the seating chart for your reception. They will also be present on the day of your wedding, helping with any day-of responsibilities, so you don’t have to go into the home stretch on your own!
