Money Monday: How to Save on Table Decor

Real talk brides — table decor doesn’t come cheap. Couples spent an average of $1,500 just on lighting and decor in 2019. That’s not a small portion of your budget, with linens alone costing a few hundred dollars. Understandably, brides want show-stopping decor to really wow their guests, but you don’t have to use a significant portion of your budget to get it. The secret to budget-friendly decor? It all comes down to choosing your items wisely and repurposing where you can. For this week’s Money Monday, we’re giving you a few simple ways you can save on your table decor!

Choose A Statement Glass

We love a good statement glass! But, a set of specialized glassware can cost as much as $14 per guest. Instead, opt for one standout item, which can cut the cost by more than half. We suggest choosing a glass in the main color of your palette and having the rest of the table setting — plates, napkins, etc. — be relatively simple. This will make your statement glass stand out even more and downsize the cost of not only your glassware but overall table settings as well.

Repurpose Ceremony Chairs

The easiest way to save money in the decor department is to repurpose items from your ceremony. Namely your ceremony chairs, this way you can eliminate the reception chair budget. This simple task alone will save you hundreds of dollars on your reception decor, so when choosing ceremony chairs, try to consider what will work for both wedding events.

Lose The Linen

Where does most of your money go when it comes to decor? Linens. Believe it or not, purchasing or renting tablecloths for all tables at your reception can cost as much as $80 per table, depending on the fabric. Do yourself a favor and opt for decorative table runners that can save you as much as $25 per table. They still bring a fancy quality to your table design and will provide extra funds for other elements of your reception.
